South Sudan life story

Hi, I am Sami and I am Amani,
We are best friends we play together and we have a lot of fun after school. This is what our life is like. At the crack of dawn we meet up with our friends called Alia and Kadem and we go down to the water pump and we swing on the pump until water comes out. You might see the water when we swing on the pump drip them, swoosh the water comes rushing out of the pump.
We do that until we have got enough for our families to drink. Our buckets are full and we have lots to share with our neighbors. When we get back to the tent we hop in the side and try go back to sleep, it is not very comfortable for us but it's better than nothing every family woke up to a clattering of pots.
It was a new family that had just arrived, the girl had scrapes on her leg from what it looked like, sharp bushes. She looked in pain like she had been running very far. The Caritas came to help the girl with bandages. People are crowding around the family assisting them with food and water. Sami’s Dad Asim had to help build the newcomers house after the girl was cleaned, up we took her away to a table where we sat down for breakfast.
We had sorghum porridge for breakfast and after we had breakfast we earned pocket money from the lady working for Caritas called Sandy she gave out shiny coins for pocket money so after breakfast, we went with the girl to get our treat of the week and got her one too. We asked the girl what her name was she said it, Nadia. We thought that was the prettiest name we heard, it suited her.
We all walked to school and kept on tripping over stones. When we finally made it to school we found out great news Our favorite Caritas member Nemo was teaching us he would tell us about his wild journeys in the forest and after school. We walked back home with Nadia and We played knucklebones altogether in the middle of knucklebones Kadem and Alia asked us to play soccer so we got up and played soccer Nadia was incredibly sporty and was very good at soccer we got called for dinner.

For dinner, we had rice again. Amani does not like rice but she eats it anyway. Everybody is drinking water after a hard day of work. After dinner, all the kids played soccer and after that, they went and hopped into their beds Nadia’s Tent was ready. 5 more arrivals will be coming tomorrow morning so more fun and friends!

Hello everyone, As you know New Zealand is in Level 4 of lockdown.  So I have been staying safe at home.  I have been doing lots of walking and biking around the neighbourhood, and keeping up my fitness in any way possible! Painting My sister and I have also been painting. Painting has been very fun.  We have painted lots of boxes and making them into 'Letterboxes'.  Which has been very fun to try out. I painted a big yogurt box lids, and I also painted two boxes, one of the boxes was really thin and really long it was used to hold the lining in, and the other box used to hold bottles, it was the box I made into a letterbox. The decoration on the yogurt lids and the lining box was rainbow and on the other box, it was splashed with different colours! St Patrick's day! Kia ora everyone, On Tuesday it was St Patrick's day! As a school we all dressed up in green and white, it was very fun to dress up! As it was St Patrick's day I am going to share some information about Saint Patrick!  Saint Patrick's birthday is on 17th March. His full name is  Maewyn Succat He was born in Roman Britan  When he was 16 years old he was sold in slavery St Patrick was born in a Christan family He brought Christianity into Ireland Green is the national colour of Ireland, so that is why we wear that colour on St Patricks day Thank you for reading - Ruby S

Hillary Hub Camp!

  Hello everyone,  last week the Hillary Hub and I went to a school camp to Wainui. Wainui is close to Akaroa.  We started off with the bus ride over there. I had a front seat next to Greta ( my friend ).  When we got there we went and had a look at our bunk rooms. Bunk Rooms: I had a very good bunk room in my bunk room I had my friends Maddie, Meg M and Hazel. It was a nice quiet bunk room. We got to sleep well although we did have noisy neighbours running around and giggling on the first night, but we did have good sleep. Activities: The activities were fun the one I was most scared about was abseiling. The one I was most excited for was Kayaking. High Ropes: I enjoyed learning how to belay and to feed to rope out and in, we also learned how to coil the rope. My favourite was probably feeding the rope through. The climbing part was a bit scary although I did not get to do much climbing as we had to take turns in a 4, overall I love learning how to do it all. Kayaki...
