Refugee day!

              Hello everyone,

Yesterday the Batten team and I had a Refugee day at our school. The reason why we were doing all of this donating and having a Refugee day plus having rice for lunch, was all for South Sudan. In South Sudan they have conflict and they all run away to the refugee camps because their village was getting destroyed so they run and run until they get to the Refugee camp. So what the Batten team did was make a hut out of cardboard. Everyone had all day to make it.

My team and I went and started making something out the cardboard. We were too worried about how we were going to fit everyone in the hut and did not think about planning, so we failed many times but kept on going. It was morning tea and our hut was standing up before we left but then it fell over with the wind. After morning tea we came back with a plan to move our hut over to the fence and we had it in a sort of in a teepee shape. It turned out really well!

In my team was Maggie, Abi, Blake, Greta, Maddie and I ( Ruby ).

Also to add to that we had half a cup of rice we were allowed to bring lunch too; it is just about thinking of them and feeling what they eat because half a cup of rice is all they eat.

Here is a picture of my hut that my friends and I made! ( I am inside )
I felt very sad eating rice and knowing that was all they ate for the day. Their life is so hard, I am very lucky.

Thanks for reading

Ruby!
